the snakes and the wings
this is a picture that wont get properly made. its complicated. its living in its own space. with the snakes. but its clear that there is not enough. thats why the snakes sneaked in. under the wings. it is real life or its not real life. any more. i suppose. or not suppose. in real life or not real life. there are lights on the painting. see.

what you paint comes back to you '93
top left: hard to say exactly, but the big painting is upside down.
top right - thats mostly etchings and lithographs and you cant see properly, so its not worth explaining, although the lower right hand picture is an etching and is a big table with people round it and its about a death. its an artists proof.
bottem left: this is about matric results
bottem right: this is I think, about the time before the end of apartheid, combined with other stuff, in situ.
the whole thing is part of a 3rd world version of a student exhibition for 3rd year, where its ok to stick pictures on the wall without a frame and there are no rules and you can mix wood cuts with etchings with lithographs with linocuts with paintings with drawings. in fact it is frowned upon to use frames.
nowadays if you do an 'informal' type exhibtion they say things like: 'works must be ready to hang with wire or mirror plates (we are sorry but we are unable to accept clip frames) No exceptions will be made'in bold.
One three dimensional work can be submitted. Three dimensional work must be no larger than 635mm (25 inches) in any dimension. No exceptions will be made.
and a whole lot more rules. guess. apparently necessary. Yay.
actually its ok in a way, as it is a structure.
